Bank Top Café

Every Friday at 12 the Bank Top "Café" serves up a 2 course hot(subject to change depending on the weather) lunch to around 30 people from the local community.  It's not just a free lunch, we offer friendship, conversation and respite from loneliness and isolation.

The "café" was set up in 2013 as a joint initiative between the Dawley Bank Group and Dawley Baptist Church. It is now run by volunteers from both the church and the local community.  We aim to provide a safe and friendly environment for those who live on the Bank, enabling them to meet each Friday to enjoy a simple, yet nutritious lunch.

During the 3 covid-19 lockdowns when we couldn't meet together for meals we set up a delivery service, delivering a hot meal to about 25 of our regulars who live in Central Telford and wanted to receive a meal.  We cooked and delivered hundreds of meals thanks to a huge army of volunteers, all working socially distanced and playing their part to relieve the loneliness that was such a big issue during the lockdowns.

We are part of the FareShare food scheme, receiving leftover groceries from a local supermarket... this enables us to have a various assortment of food each week, available for all to take home especially those who need help in making ends meet.
Donations for this are appreciated but only give if and when you can afford to do so.

Join us on Fridays...all are welcome. Doors open at 11.30am, the meal is served around 12pm and we're open until about 1:30pm.  The meal is provided free of charge with an opportunity to donate towards ongoing costs if people are able.
We host a monthly prize bingo session and a monthly quiz, and also organise special events.

Transport is often available for those with mobility issues - please contact us.
